The Ubiquitous Annual Christmas Newsletter

church          Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!                christmas-scene

This has been a pretty blessed year for all of us here in the Chase Family.  Everyone has their health, lots of things have been accomplished, we’ve seen a few old friends through the year and kept in reasonable touch with most of the rest of you.  I will try to put a paragraph down for each of us, letting you know what direction we are going.  If you don’t get a chance to read on, please know you are in our thoughts and prayers and have our fondest wishes for a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

I have been working with two hats pretty much since last Christmas  .  The org chart is a bit frustrating, but the good thing is that my officers and I are knocking down 40-80 felony suspects a month, with several of those being Capital Murder arrests.  Been getting lots of training in WOMD stuff lately…. hope I never have to put it to use!  Overtime is slowing down just about now.  Good thing, I am pretty worn out… lots of 70+ hour weeks.  Been doing some working out, and actually went to fencing for about 8 weeks, until overtime got to be too much.  I still have the lease in Bandera, seen lots of deer there and already have some in the freezer.  This weekend, Nicco and I will go to Jacksboro to hunt on Buford Thompson’s lease.  Whoo hoo!  (News flash:  Nicco got a doe on the last morning – the whole trip was a blast!!  And we have burgers to boot!!)

Valerie is still teaching French to kids of all ages at St. Thomas.  I hear from parents all of the time, saying how much their kids love her and how nice she is!  She has been going with the girls out to the stables and riding 1-3 times a week!!  She has taken a few trips out to see Veronique this year and will be going to France this summer. She does still recognize pictures of me!!

Christopher has had the most eventful year of any of us.  He is currently a cadet in the Houston Police Academy!!  Poor fellow has to put up with everyone asking him if I am as goofy at home as I am at work.  He never has told me how he answers.  He will graduate from the academy sometime in February!!

Nicholas is finishing up school at St. Thomas.  So far, he has been accepted at St. John’s, Spring Hill, and University of Houston.  He says he wants to be a Chemical or Nuclear Engineer.  Yikes!!  He gave up working at La Madeleine for the school year and that was probably a good idea.  We never see the boy as it is!!  I have to say that his grades have not suffered too badly from senioritis…   Oh yes… he had his first fencing tournament a few weeks ago – did quite well!

Emily is the one who has been taking lessons from Ms. Granger of Harry Potter Fame. The girl is playing soccer, running Cross Country, riding several times a week as well as taking History AP in 10th grade!!  She still has time to watch NCIS and Criminal Minds… 🙂  She qualified for state and ran quite well in cross country, bettering her time on a very difficult course.  She has been dragging me out a couple of times a week to walk the dog while she runs around the bayou… who woulda ever figured?

Katherine is easily as horse crazy as Emily.  She ran middle school cross country and finished at the top in the regional meet!  She gave up soccer to spend more time with Diva.  OHHHHHH….. did I fail to mention Diva???  We are taking responsibility for a European Warmblood from a friend who did not have enough time to keep her in shape.  The girls are doing their best and are learning to lunge as well as improving their jumping and dressage.  Valerie has been going out with them.  She usually rides "Moose" who looks like his name

Parting Shot –

Two blondes went deep into the frozen woods searching for a
Christmas tree. After hours of subzero temperatures and a
few close calls with hungry wolves, one blonde turned to the
other and said, "I’m chopping down the next tree I see. I
don’t care whether it’s decorated or not!"

yes yes yes… it’s a joke!!
